Hi, I have a Western Digital My Book World Edition external Harddrive. It is a Network Drive, this drive: I have been using it for 2 years now networked with a few imacs. I no longer have the software disk that comes with it. It has no username and password set to it but I would like to set a password on it now as I have moved into a bigger office with more people. My question is how can I set a password to access the drive, considering I no longer have the software CD and am using an imac? A: Here’s a short segment from my book, PCs: The Missing Manual, that helps people retrieve lost or forgotten administrator passwords: If somebody else on that PC also owns an administrator account, he or she can remove the password from any other account by opening the Control Panel’s User Accounts area, selecting an account, and selecting. Step 1: Connect My Book World Edition to the Network. Address and admin name and password to default factory settings without erasing. Important: The User Manual for the My Book World (White Light) incorrectly. IP Settings, and Administrator Password to factory default, use the reset button.
